Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

I hate buying foundation. It's such a pain in the arse. I can't buy it online because I can't be sure the shade will be right for me so I then have to go into the shops and try every shade on the back of my hand (which doesn't even give you an accurate match, but honestly, who is going to swatch something on their face in the middle of a shop?) then I get to go home and try it out and pray to the foundation gods that it does actually match my face. Honestly even one shade wrong and I look like an oompa loompa.

I went out recently with the sole purpose of finding a new foundation. I geared myself up for a lot of swatching, scrubbing and sighing but it turned out to be a rather pleasant experience for once! I only tried out a couple before I came across the Rimmel Match Perfection and decided the dreaded arm swatch was a good enough match that I'd part with my pennies to try it out at home.

It's a pretty standard foundation bottle to be honest. When I was swatching this, I might have done a little happy dance when I realised it was a pump as I actually detest bottles that you have to just free pour onto your hand. Show of hands who has ended up with 5 faces worth just chilling there on the back of your hand? I was also very pleased when I discovered that it actually has an SPF 20, one less lotion and potion I need to put on my wee face.

I think the colour is a pretty good match, maybe a little on the yellow side (makeup geniuses, opinions please), it's not a full coverage but it looks like you can build it up if that's your bag. My teenage self would hate current me because this foundation doesn't 'hide' my freckles. I couldn't stand them as a teen but as I've grown up they've started to annoy me less and less. I've even kinda learned to love them in a weird way.

Are we loving my Phantom Of The Opera-esque face going on here? I've never tried doing a half face with foundation before to see the difference it makes but I think it might be my new go to when trying out new bases! I'm really loving this foundation if I'm honest, my skin just looks that little bit better. I've even found out this isn't the lightest shade they offer, there's a Light Porcelain shade but it looks like for the first time in my life, it could be too pale. I'll probably get it soon to try it out and if it is indeed too pale, I'll be tempted to mix it with this Ivory shade for hopefully the perfect match!

Have you tried out this particular range? Got another you'd like to recommend? Let me know below!

Until next time x
